Week of February 24, A time of endings and beginnings

It has been a slow week in office again, but CHANGE is in the air!

Elder and Sister Wood, the office couple have returned home
after 18 months of incredible selfless service to the people of Mongolia.
Some of a few words that describe them are:
GENEROUS, SELFLESS, ENERGETIC, FUN, LOVING and THOUGHTFUL
We will truly miss them and wish them the best in the years to come!
This a picture of the Senior Elders that we have served with the last 9 months.
Elder Wood is the first to return home after a very successful mission

Elder Gardner, Elder Wood, Elder England
Sister Wood made every missionary a birthday cake ( If they were in town)  She did it out of love.
We felt the Woods needed to have their own cakes with special candles to honor them.
They are truly lovely people, always smiling and making everyone feel welcome.
Senior Couples singing a special song for the Woods
"You are like a star shining brightly!"
Thanks to the Woods for having the Light of Christ and Sharing it with us!

ANOTHER EXCITING CHANGE!

This weekend we had a combined meeting with the saints of the
Ulaanbaatar East District and the Ulaanbaatar West Stake.
This was all of the members in Ulaanbaatar.
Saturday Evening we were given the challenge to prepare to
bring a Temple to Mongolia. Why a temple to Mongolia?
So that each member can have the opportunity to make sacred covenants
with our Heavenly Father and receive those promised blessings that happen in the temple.
It is not enough to just go to church.  We will not be exalted by just going to church.
We need those saving and exalting ordinances that are performed in the temple.
So in order to get a temple in Mongolia, certain things need to happen.
There need to be more stakes.  There need to be more recommend holders.
I think most people here did not realize how important it is to have a temple recommend.
They thought that since they can't afford to go to the temple right now,
they need to wait to get a recommend.
They were told that by getting a temple recommend
they are showing the Lord that they love him
and are willing to keep their covenants.
They are showing the Lord their willingness to have a temple and to support a temple.

On Sunday, There were major changes to the boundaries of the Stake and the District and the wards and branches that are in them.
The whole purpose was to strengthen the members, prepare future leaders and to make stronger units so that we can bring a temple to Mongolia.
We are not exactly sure which unit we will be in.  We had been serving in the Chingeltei and Sukhbaatar branches.  Chingeltei has been combined with another branch and another couple was serving in that branch, (usually you do not have 2 couples in the same branch).  We probably will find out in a couple of weeks where we are suppose to be.

 Some awesome Missionary's
The Missionaries we have been working with are Elder Stanley and Elder Higgs they are the 3rd and 4th from the right.

Some advice given the Mongolian Saints to prepare for the temple which I feel we can all use
1. Set ourselves apart from the world and it's influences
2. Magnify our callings, no matter what they are.  Each calling is important.
3. Keep the commandments
4. Attend church and keep the Sabbath Day holy.
5. Pray and pay our tithing
6. Keep a current temple recommend.
7. Do family history.

Hopefully we will see a temple announced for Mongolia in a couple of years.

Scripture of the week:
Doctrine and Covenants 25:13 Wherefore, lift up thy heart and rejoice, and cleave unto the covenants which thou hast made.
