Kindergarten in Ulaanbataar
This week we also visited a couple of Kindergartens in the Bayanzurkh district. They had requested some toys because they have had a growth explosion in their Kindergartens. Kindergarten is from age 2 to 5 years. The government run kindergartens are free (they have to provide their own supplies though such as paper etc) but they only have room for less than half of the children. The classes are large with about 50 children in the 5 year old classes and around 25 in the two year old classes. I was impressed with how clean and well maintained the school classrooms were. The rooms were bright and cheerful and they seemed to have plenty of child sized chairs, and tables. The children were well disciplined but also learning and having fun. Again we were really impressed of how well they take care of their children. Deseret Charities will not be providing toys like they requested. (Toys really are not a humanitarian service, and they seemed to have enough, maybe not as much as they would like). But we will be open to other suggestions that might fit our guidelines more. Any way the kids were adorable
