Our First Bus Ride in Mongolia
On Saturday, June 29 we accompanied 2 couples the Stewarts and the Farmers to see if we could find some horses that were brought into the area for milking for a traditional drink for their festival at Naadam with takes place July 11-13.
It was a good introduction to riding the bus. A bus ticket is 400 tugs/person each way (30 cents). The bus going out was not too crowded and the people are really respectful to women and older persons (I qualify as both) and they insist on giving you their seats. It was a slow and bouncy ride because of the congestion and road conditions. Coming back however, there had to be at least 150 people on that bus.
We found the horses and watched them getting milked. They bring the colt up to its mama, let it start nursing then pull it away and then start to milk. They keep the colt by the mama and she thinks that she is still nursing the colt. Pretty interesting.
Scripture: Numbers 13:27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey ...
So, did you get to try horse milk? These are very cool pictures - we are glad you are sharing them with us!
